Vitamin C And Omega 3's Are Good For The Skin After All!
Yes, you would have heard about how Vitamin C and Omega 3's are supposed to be good for the skin.
But did you simply think that it was just a saying?
Well, if you're interested in anti aging and having younger looking skin, then you'll be glad to hear that it's been now shown that Vitamin C and Omega 3's are indeed good for preventing wrinkles!
In a study revealed in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in October 2007, it was found that there were 2 nutrients in the diet are linked with less wrinkles, in their study of women aged 40 onwards.
These were Vitamin C and Omega 3 fatty acids. It was found that if you had more of these nutrients, that it was associated with less wrinkles and skin atrophy (the changes that happen with skin aging).
The study also found that too much carbohydrates and fats in the diet were associated with more wrinkles.
So Vitamin C is good after all for keeping wrinkles at bay : )
And we need Vitamin C every day because the vitamin is not stored in our body.
We already know that Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which neutralizes free radicals, which is perhaps why it's so good for our skin as well as our health overall.
So how do you get enough of Vitamin C each day?
Well, the foods that are richest in Vitamin C includes:
Paw paw (papaya)
Bell peppers
Brocolli
Brussel sprouts
Strawberries
Oranges
Kiwifruit
Cauliflower
Mustard greens
Parsley
Kale
Lemon juice
So as you can see, you can easily find the foods that are rich in Vitamin C to keep your skin looking younger.
Ideally, have some of these fruits and veggies raw, as this will preserve their high levels of Vitamin C.
And how do you get ebough Omega 3 fatty acids?
These are the "good oils" you hear so much about which are great for our heart health, which now are also great for your skin as well.
You can find Omega 3 fatty acids in these foods:
Salmon
Tuna
Trout
Sardines
Mackarel
FIsh oil capsules
Flaxseed oil
Omega 3 enriched eggs
Salba grains
Soy products
Leafy green vegetables
If you love fish, then get the ones high in omega 3s. And there are plenty of alternatives to fish as well, if fresh fish is not available easily where you are.
So there you go.
